Tuscarora State Park is one of eastern Schuylkill County’s most scenic outdoor destinations.
The park covers more than 1,600 acres and sits around Tuscarora Lake, with Locust Mountain rising along the southern side.
More than just a lake
Visitors use the park for fishing, boating, hiking, swimming, picnicking, wildlife watching and seasonal recreation. The park also serves as the office and visitor center for both Tuscarora and Locust Lake state parks.
Why locals keep going back
Tuscarora is easy to visit for a short afternoon but has enough space and variety to make a full day out of it. The mountain backdrop and lake are especially strong in fall.
Part of the county’s outdoor side
Schuylkill County is often pictured through coal breakers and brick rowhomes, but parks like Tuscarora show the other half of the landscape: forests, ridges, lakes and open space.
