SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — A Shenandoah Valley graduate has joined the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Ted Lachowicz, who graduated in 1968, was inducted during a ceremony in King of Prussia, according to the Shenandoah Sentinel.
A three-sport high school career
The Sentinel’s biographical account highlights Lachowicz’s achievements in football, basketball and baseball. He earned 1968 All-State recognition as a linebacker and was also a basketball honoree and a multi-year baseball catcher.
A college football path
Following substantial college recruiting interest, Lachowicz attended Syracuse University and became a three-year starter. The account credits him with national college lineman-of-the-week recognition during his time in the program.
Earlier recognition back home
Shenandoah Valley recognized Lachowicz in 2006 with induction into the school’s Wall of Fame. The Pennsylvania Hall of Fame honor brings a state-level acknowledgement to a career that already had a lasting local place in school athletics history.
