Older homes are a major part of Schuylkill County’s housing stock. They can offer solid construction, architectural character and good value—but they also deserve careful evaluation.

Older housing is part of the character of many Schuylkill County communities.

Electrical systems

Look at panel age, wiring updates, grounding and whether past work appears professionally completed.

Roofs and water

Roof age, flashing, gutters, foundation moisture and drainage are important in older housing.

Heating

Oil, electric, natural gas and other systems may be found throughout the county. Verify age, service history and fuel arrangements.

Renovations

A newer kitchen or bath does not automatically mean hidden systems were updated. Inspect beyond finishes.
